Your AC is working perfectly, but somehow your home is never cool enough. How come?

You might want to look into attic insulation. Most homes built before 1980 has no attic insulation, causing cool air/warm air to escape. What a waste of energy! Luckily, LADWP is now offering to help pay for your attic insulation cost. Qualifying customers can receive rebates up to 80% of the total insulation installation costs or $1.00 per square foot of attic floor insulation (whichever is less).

Customers who install attic insulation can see energy reduction and savings of $200 to $374 in a year, depending upon the size of the home and its location.

Customers interested in the program should:

  1. Decide on hiring a licensed contractor or installing the insulation materials themselves; LADWP strongly recommends working with a licensed contractor.

  2. Take pictures of the attic BEFORE installation to submit with application package.

  3. Install insulation materials in accordance with the program requirements.

  4. Take pictures of the attic AFTER installation.

  5. Submit Consumer Rebate Program (CRP) application (PDF) by mail to LADWP with required documentation.

Take advantage of LADWP’s FREE Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP) and give your home an in-depth energy assessment & upgrade. The quickest and easiest way to make your home more energy-efficient is to begin with basic upgrades that focus on the outer shell of your home, which can potentially improve the air quality inside your home for a healthier and safer indoor environment. The Home Upgrade program takes a comprehensive, “whole-house” approach. By making multiple improvements at the same time, the impacts of your energy-efficient upgrades are multiplied.

Through the Home Upgrade Program, incentives (up to $1650 in rebates alone) are available to Southern California Gas Company® (SoCalGas) and LADWP residential customers with detached single-family homes who complete qualifying energy-saving home upgrade projects. Each home’s needs are unique, so a variety of upgrades are available to help you decide what’s best for you and your home, including air sealing, insulation, windows, cool roofs, and upgrades to heating and cooling systems.
